Toby’s second album Red Car is set for release on 5 May 2026. His debut album 30 Years Late was released on 21 June 2024 and featured Strange Times and Still Alive as well as the title track. Recorded entirely in his home studio, Red Car is a solo project that evolved from songs written over the years, some from way back, others more recently. It was not a “right let’s get an album done in 6 months”, more a collection of the unheard songs from voice notes or demos, re-produced and given proper treatment. A capacious inner world is combined with his life experiences over now several decades, including his teen years (No Chance). There is a spiritual thread culminating in the Cathartic “Fill me with your Grace”, and “Forever”, originally inspired by Oscar Wilde’s “De Profundis”.

The title track is metaphorical and literal at the same time. That car, the red Porsche 911 (the album cover is from a photo of the car taken in 2005), the song’s lyrics - all real, all actually happened. The message is broader – that, “Lord help us”, love will give us the courage to drive our lives forward come what may.

Red Car is for love that never ends, endures all things.

Album singles Always, No Chance, Could it be Love?, and Forever will be released thru May 2026.

Red Car also features a cover of Dire Straits’ “Romeo and Juliet”.
